Best Result for a Bedford Team in the Nationals Ever!

The Men's Epee team had a brilliant day out at the Leon Paul Centre on Sunday 29th November, coming 4th in the National Epee Team competition.

The team were former National Champion and Club Coach Quentin Berriman, Jean-Luc Janet, Darran Milne and George Partridge.

They began well in the first pool, defeating Haverstock B 45-35 and Bath 45-34.  This gave them 3rd seed position and meant they were in the top 8 teams.  They drew a top London club, Lansdown, for their first direct elimination match.  A hard battle ensued resulting in a win for Bedford by 2 hits, 45-43.

In the semi-final they came up against  Cambridge University Fencing Club and their winning streak ended.  In a fight-off for the Bronze Medal they took Reading to the wire but lost by 2 hits.

The competition was won by Haverstock A, with CUFC gaining the Silver Medal and Reading taking Bronze.

A fantastic result for the team.
