With a large entry of club members at a local Open event we are pleased  that two club members were medalists in Luton Open Epee.


David Roig Carles won Silver  and Bronze for Quentin Berriman both loosing to the winner.


David put out in the last 16 John Prime  who finished 10th.

Jean-Luc Janet is now Eastern Region Champion Epeeist.


In the Eastern Region competition which was held  at St Neot’s Leisure Centre in Huntingdonshire  Jean-Luc stormed through the day to win the Gold Medal.  The final score was 15-7, a comprehensive win, against Wayne Bryan from CADS .  Jean Luc was up  against strong competition from among others – including his club-mate, George Partridge – who ended in 5th place.

The European Veterans’ Championships took place between 5-8th May in Medway Kent.  22 countries had 99 teams competing.


Bedford Fencing Club had two fencers competing at sabre for GB: Ed Simpson for the Men’s Veterans Team and Silvia Brown for the Women’s Grand Veterans.

Eleanor Taylor won the under 14 British Youth Championship Epee Title on 2nd May.

Seeded 9th after the pools gave Eleanor a bye in the last 64 and she went on to win the next two Direct Elimination fights 15/4.

In the last 8 she came up against former club mate Rachael Lever who in a tough fight she beat 15/11.

Seeded number 8 she suceeded in beating the 5th seed Sophia Kalimtgis 15/12 in the semi finals.


In the final she beat Messina Herrling 15/10 winning a huge cup - an excellent result in a field of 52 contestants.

Three Sabreurs from Bedfford were at the Home Nations competition in Durham: Ed Simpson, Caroline Clancy and Silvia Brown.  England won!
