At the European Championships in Chiarvari Italy in May
Two club fencers fenced in the Veterans Four Nations in Dún Laoghaire. Silvia Brown was part of a victorious England team and Caroline Clancy fenced for Ireland who came third.
Team England with Silvia gained a gold and Ireland with Caroline a Bronze in the sabre team.
The Gala Dinner was held in the posh surrounds of the Royal St George Yacht Club where medals were awarded.
Fencers enjoyed a great weekend with temperatures reaching 20 degrees on Sunday.
Eastern Region Youth Championships
There was a good turn out from the youth of Bedford Fencing Club at the January Eastern Region Youth Championships and some excellent results.
It was good to see some fencers competing for the first time. Those in the top 8 qualify for the British Youth Championships 2017. (BYC)
Two club fencers and one of our visitors took to the World stage in October at the Veterans World Championships held in Stralsund Germany.
Two Club fencers and one of our visitors took to the World stage to represent Great Britain in October at the Veterans World Championships held in Germany.
Caroline Clancy, Silvia Brown and Jon Nottingham travelled to Stralsund which is located in the north-eastern part of Germany. Silvia travelled with Bedford Fencing Club head coach, Prof. Jonathan Katz.
If you fence sabre, even at the club on the odd occasion then this applies to you.
From the 1st September you will need the new 800N sabre glove, see notice from BFA on their website
To fence after the 1st Sept without one of the new 800N gloves could invalidate your BFA insurance should you have an accident.
