Veterans GB Squad includes 5 club members.
No less than five members of BFC have won places in the GB Squad fencing in the World Championships in Cairo in October.
Results of three competitions including the Vets National and the European Championships were used to choose the squad.
Caroline Clancy and Silvia Brown fence Sabre..
John Prime and Andrew Brown fence Epee and Adrian Griffin will fence Foil.
Two Bronze medals
Proud to be part of a squad of 72 GB fencers Silvia Brown and Caroline Clancy both returned to the UK from Livorno Italy with Silver Medals .
Adrian Griffin in his first sabre World Championships is 32nd.
Silvia Brown was in the 70+ category and fenced in the Women’s Sabre individual event. (13/10/18)
She started her day by winning all but one fight in a poule of 7 giving her a ranking of 3rd. This earned her a bye into the last 16.

Mike who often is referee for us at the Bedford Open and recently at the County event has been awarded

by British Fencing.
Alexandra Sapetschnig wins Bronze medal at the Norfolk Open.
Having joined the club to improve her sabre fencing the lessons paid off in July at the Norfolk Open for Alex.
In a group with a number of veteran fencers including gold medalist Lucy Wright and Michelle Neary Alex came up against another Bedford Fencer Silvia Brown in the quarter finals.
