Caroline Clancy had a thrilling time at her first Veterans World Championships in Limoges, France in October 2015.  Seeded 25th after the first pool, she came up against the 8th Seed, Italian Margherita Camerin.  Caroline fought her way to a well deserved 10-7 victory but she went out to another  Italian, Gabriella Lionetta. Caroline finished in the last 16 - a wonderful first World Championship result.

In their first match of the new season, Bedford has a resounding win against Luton.  Club Captain, Leo Bamber, says his aim is for lots of social media activity around the matches on Facebook this year!

The first of this year Club Championships, for Epee, begins on 24th November.  All members are encouraged to take part.  To qualify for the Master of Arms trophy, fencers need to compete in all three weapon events.  Foil and Sabre competitions will be after Christmas. 

Wednesday, 28th October 2015

The 2015 Bedford Epee Open took place in  October. Nearly 90 men and women participants at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium. The field included some overseas fencers from Singapore, Italy and Hungary currently training in the UK.

In the men’s competition, Quentin Berriman fought a highly contested semi-final against Calum Maynard from Egham, eventually winning 15/14 to reach the final.

Congratulations to the 3 Club fencers who have now qualified to fence for Great Britain at the Veterans World Championships.

 

Coach Jonathan Katz watched Caroline Clancy and Silvia Earl  win medals at the age group qualifying event in Milton Keynes in June. Caroline and Silvia Bronze in Sabre each  in their age group.

 

They will join Geoff Silverman at the event in Limoges France in October.  Geoff qualified at the National Championships earlier in the year.
